Treating chronic pain...Colour Therapy

Colour therapy is best described as the use of colour to produce healing and beneficial effects.

It was used in ancient Greece and Ancient Egypt. Its theories have also been embraced by the Indian's and Chinese for thousands of years.

Colour affects people in many ways. The effect of a particular colour can effect concentration, performance and sense of mental and physical well being.


The therapeutic benefits of colour have been well researched and the discoveries found have been utilized in hospitals and mental institutions.

Blue is the most popular colour favored by people and then red which is half as poular as blue. The least popular colour is yellow. Studies have shown that children ignored or damaged yellow toys over red and blue ones.

Amazing studies show that some blind people can feel and identify different colours just by touching them. This is explained by experts as different energy levels emanating from the colours and the blind being sensitive to them.

Practitioners can diagnose a person's condition by noting the colour of their body eg. eyes, skin, urine, stools. If they have a bluish or whitish tinge; then that person is probably lacking red and their symptoms would support this.

After the diagnosis is made the practitioner treats the patient by prescribing a diet of foods enriched with the colour that is deficient. In conjunction to that the patient is treated with a series of sessions that expose them to the colour they are lacking. This restores balance and harmony to the body. The exact way in which the patient recieves exposure depends on the therapist.


The following colours have been used to treat a variety of disorders.

RED: paralysis

ORANGE: Dispels gall stones and small kidney stones, cholera.

YELLOW: Diabetes and constipation

GREEN: Ulcers, syphilis, erysipelas

BLUE: teething, boils, fevers, inflammation, dysentry, colic, jaundice, cuts and burns.

Colour therapy is quite complex and can not be treated at home. You must consult a therapist to be properly diagnosed.

To best relate the way colour therapy works; become aware of the change in your mood and energy when going out in the sunlight after a few days of being cooped up inside.
