A GP who was not satisfied with the ways of conventional medicine; Dr. Samuel Hahnemann (1755 - 1843), combined many different healing principles, some which dated back thousands of years. Once formulated, it became a system he called, Homeopathy. Homeo, Latin for same, and Pathy for disease or sickness = Same sickness.

Homeopathy, treats the patient as a person and not just the disease. A classical homeopath, prescribes a single remedy according to the condition which is determined by an assessment of the patient as a whole. By taking in to account the patients constitution, temperament, strengths and weaknesses and how thet react to the particular illness or ailment that they are suffering from. It can be used to treat any condition, form a graze to childbirth and terminal illness.

It is a gentle but effective therapy, that attracts all types of people for every conceivable condition. The Queen, David Beckham and Madonna; all swear by it. It recognizes and rebalances disease at any stage, holistically. It has stood the test of time, is affordable, simple to prepare, non-invasive and does not produce side effects.

The remedies prescribed, are created from diluted potencies of natural substances that trigger the same symptoms in a healthy person as the disease does in the affected one. Therfore, prescribed to an ailing patient, the selected remedy works to heal that disease and restore harmony to the body as a whole.

The remedies are made up of medicinal substances that are diluted to infinitesimal, potentised doses. eg: 1:50000 ( 1 part substance to fifty thousand parts distilled water or alcohol).

The homeopathic treatments are non invasive as Practitioners believe that some methods of conventional medicine are; causing more damage (initially), before they can heal. An example would be an injection ( causing more pain and injury by piercing the skin) or surgery ( cutting the skin, making a wound and creating a scar; therefore causing additional discomfort and the need for extra energy, in addition to the original complaint).

Homeopathy is considered "Alternative" in the Western world, but in Third world countries, they depend on homeopathy as their only form of medical treatment. This is because they have no access to modern pharmaceuticals.

In Western society; Homeopathic Practitioners are becoming more sought after. Some patients even chosing it as their primary method of health care over conventional medicine.
