Foods that heal...Honey

Some critics say that honey is just another sweetner. But recent studies have shown that honey is indeed 'The Nectar of the God's'.
Like many products that are heated for preservation nd faster pouring; the healing elements of honey are destroyed during this process. Therefore, to enjoy the full benefits of honey, you must use a cold-pressed variety.
Honey is a natural antibiotic. It can destroy many types of gastric bacteria. This makes it an excellent treatment for diarrhea and taken on an empty stomach (1/2 teaspoon), for ease of discomfort caused by ulcers and gastroenteritis.
Honey provides protection against medication that affects the stomach lining such as Asprin and some anti-inflammatory medications. When taken in conjunction with these medications; many patients have reported significant relief to the usual side-effects.
Due to small particles of pollen in cold-pressed honey; there have been some evidence that supports honey as having a desensatizing effect on sufferer's of hay fever. A traditional treatment for this is 1 teaspoon taken 3 times a day.
Raw honey is also effective in the treatment of open wounds, especially ones that are slow to heal. Applied topically, it speeds up the healing process by 75% in some people. Due to this , honey is a great treatment for victims of minor burns and aids in the prevention of secondary infection.
NOTE: It is not recommended to give honey to children under the age of 1 year. This is because (although rare), some children are allergic to honey and the gut is too immature to cope with honey at such an early stage of development.
Honey provides more sweetness in smaller amounts then sugar and is a great alternative in cooking. Try adding it after the cooking process to receive maximum benefits.
Remember: Too much honey causes tooth decay and contains as many calories as sugar.
Less is more!!!
